When traveling with kids, there are some must-have travel essentials for women that you’ll need to ensure the most memorable & worry-free trip!
Of course, depending on where you are traveling to and who you’re traveling with will determine which items you need to travel with. I travel with my toddler on most trips so I have to be sure to pack not only my travel essentials but hers as well.
Travel essentials for women (especially when traveling with the little ones) make for amazing trips! It also lessens your stress level because you’ll have everything you need.
The Ultimate Vacation Packing Checklist
This is first on my list because it all starts with the packing! I’m all for packing as light as possible but it doesn’t always happen that way. Anytime that I wait until the last minute AND don’t use a packing list, I always overpack. I don’t know about you but I hate it when I’m traveling and realize I forgot something at home.
Well, using a packing list will prevent this from happening!
If you don’t want to overpack and want to be sure your travels are a lot easier for you, grab your free copy of the ultimate vacation packing list for moms . . . for any trip! It’s a complete list of everything you need when you travel with or without kids!
Using a vacation packing list also helps you pack smarter and organize your luggage – which makes a big difference once you arrive at your destination.

Must-Have Travel Essentials for Women When Traveling with Kids
Traveling with kids can be overwhelming for new parents or parents that have not traveled with their little ones before.
- Baby/Diaper Bag
- Stroller
- Carseat
- iPad/Tablet (Download lots of shows, movies & learning games)
- Books
- Coloring Books/Crayons
- Toys
- Headphones for the kids
- Snacks
- Collapsible Water Bottle
- Baby wipes
- Hat and/or sunglasses for the little ones
Packing Cubes
So, I was introduced to packing cubes years ago through one of the travel groups on Facebook. After doing some research, I fell in love with using packing cubes. They have made my life so much easier – especially when I travel with my little one.
There are many different brands, sizes and quality of packing cubes. I purchased and currently use Eagle Creek packing cubes. Regardless of which ones you use, you want to use packing cubes that are of good quality! You really don’t want the zipper to break or the fabric to rip while you’re traveling. I know that Ebags is a good alternative. If you are more on a budget, these will work as well.
Carry-on Bag
I’m all about being #teamcarryon. Traveling with only carryon bags & personal item bags makes our travel experiences 10X better.
When I travel with my toddler, we are usually allowed a carry-on bag & a personal item bag (each). It really depends on your preference for this one because I personally like traveling with both my travel backpack and my roller as well.
When it comes to travel gear, you want to make sure it’s durable and have features that make your life easier. For instance, I usually only use backpacks that have a horizontal strap.
Don’t forget bag tags! They really do come in handy!
Pro tip: Make sure that you write your contact info on something and place inside of your check luggage. The paper sticker sometimes gets torn off & then God forbid your bag gets “delayed/lost”. You will be too happy that you did this!
The horizontal strap feature on the backpack allows you to attach it to a roller bag with ease! This will come in handy because it allows you to prop the backpack on top of your roller bag so that you don’t have to carry it around and it stays in place. Carrying bags throughout the airport and to/from will get really heavy – really fast.
I really love having the option to attach my backpack to my roller and then rolling them both through the airport. This prevents me from carrying all that weight on my back and/or shoulders.
Electronics
Electronics are travel accessories for women that are a MUST for us when we travel. Of course, this will vary for every family!😜 The most important item from this list for me is the external charger! I don’t go anywhere without it – even when I’m not traveling. 😄
- Car Charger
- External Charger for your mobile devices
- Headsets / Earbuds
Day Bag/Beach Bag
A day bag is something that will make your travels better! Whether you choose one that is collapsible or not, you want to have a bag that you can use each day of your trip. Travel backpacks are my personal favorite to use as a day bag/beach bag. They are great for making moves!!
Must-Have Travel Accessories for Women: The Ultimate Travel Purse
A crossbody purse and/or a fanny pack are the absolute best option when it comes to a travel purse. They’re great because they’re small and you keep them close by. Be sure to secure your travel documents, money, and phone in them.
For me it really depends on where I’m traveling and what I’m gonna be doing that determines if I decide to take a travel purse or not. I usually travel with everything in my backpack and then pack my crossbody bag inside of my carry-on. If I pack my crossbody bag inside my carry-on I would only use it once I arrived at my destination.

Must-Have Travel Accessories for Women: Toiletries
Of course, there are things you’ll travel within your cosmetic bag that is a given but these are a couple of things some moms tend to miss. I make my own medical kits and they’ve become must-travel items that we don’t leave home without. If you have a baby or a small child, traveling with a medical kit can really make a difference when you’re away from home.

Love your picks! It’s good to be prepared for anything and everything! I think you also include sanitizer in this list, As it is essential during travel for everyone.
Thanks! So true . . . Definitely will be adding it to the list! Thanks for the feedback!
I don’t have kids but this is still a great list! Two things I definitely need to get are the collapsible water bottle & packing cubes. I think I’m the only travel blogger not using packing cubes ?
Ha! Yes, and then you will not want to travel without them! 🙂
I’ve been looking for a good collapsible water bottle. Thanks for the recommendation. For me, I love a blanket scarf. Mine has traveled the world. And agree with you 100% on the packing cubes. They are life changing. Where have they been my whole life?
Nice! I usually wear a jacket and or long sleeves. Yes, they are! LOL Right!!?!?
Need to check into some of these. I love the collapsable water bottle. A good cross body bag is something I should have too.
Cool! Yes, I love a good crossbody bag! 🙂
I totally agree that packing lists make traveling 10x easier! With or without kids this list is the perfect compilation of items needed for any trip! That collapsable water bottle… I NEED IT! Thanks for all the tips!
Yes, so true! I know, I need to get another one.? They seem to get missing when my hubby is around. LOL. Anytime!
I love these ideas! I absolutely agree on the external batteries for cell phones and other mobile devices. I laughed when I read about the strap on your backpack…a total stranger in an airport kindly let me know that I could use that same feature on my computer bag and not have to carry it over my shoulder. I had always wondered what that “dumb” strap was there for.
I do some adventure travel, and carry a magnifying glass and a safety whistle with me. The magnifying glass has come on handy when using paper maps and charts.
Great post! Glad I found you.
Ha! That’s too funny! Yes, I have to have that strap on all of my bags! Now you can save yourself from carrying your computer bag. ?
Wow! You did your research. These are some great tips for traveling. I saved it for future reference.
Aww, thanks! Yes, I am big on traveling with my essentials! ?
