Best Plus Size Belly Band in 2023 | The Ultimate Plus Size Maternity Support Guide

Because every pregnancy is so different, it really depends on your specific needs to determine which plus size belly band or plus size maternity support belt is right for you.

I personally didn’t need nor want these with my first pregnancy however with this pregnancy (I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant) I absolutely needed them. If you are like me (this time around), this will be a life saver throughout your plus size pregnancy journey.

Why use a plus size belly band and/or plus size maternity support belts?

  • Provides back support
  • Helps round out a B-belly and/or apron belly
  • Provides support by balancing the weight of your baby bump
  • Helps your clothes fit better
  • May help you sleep better

When should you start wearing a belly band?

  • This will be different for everyone. You should start wearing one as soon as you feel the need to. Once you want to relive or resolve any of the things listed above, you will want to start wearing one.
After doing a lot of research for myself, I quickly realized that I had to pay close attention to the reviews and the actual sizing guides for each one listed. Mainly because it usually not a one size fit all situation and sizing matters when it comes to choosing the right belly band or support belt. . . I highly recommend that you do the same.

I wish I would have purchased this sooner. I was about 36 wks when I bought this. I was trying to just tough it out since I only had 4 wks left. I had major pelvic and hip pain to the point that it hurt to walk or even sit at times. This band did help. It didnt take all the pain away, but it gave me enough support that I was able to go on longer walks again. It was not very comfortable to sit in, and if I sat I would have to re-adjust it. I have a standing desk at work, so I only put this on if I was going to be standing for a long period or going for a walk etc. I am 5’5 and was about 280 when I purchased. The 3x was possibly a little big on me, but this is 3 parts and it is adjustable. Overall I am glad I went with the 3xl.

My baby and I both love it! Yes, I say my baby because the belly section stretches so much you don’t feel any pressure on your bump. I LOVE IT, at only 21 weeks my back is the issue. This shape wear is more compression on your back and sides which helps tremendously. Probably should have sized up to to use throughout my whole pregnancy.

I am tall with a long torso, so I was delighted that these are ling enough for me. I am not sure why, but I find the concept of dressing for nursing extremely difficult. I want something that I don’t have to fuss around with, but is comfortable and nice enough that I can wear it in public. I would not call these flattering, especially as they are snug and highlight all of the baby weight, but I usually will pair them with a flowy sweater- both hides my tummy a bit and offers a little privacy during feeds. Overall, these tops have made nursing a lot easier for me. Side note- they come with absolutely ridiculous bra pads that are jumbo. I assume they are meant to hide nipples from poking out, they they are so huge that they make it look weird. I ripped all of mine out and threw them in the trash. They fit much better now.

I absolutely love the fit of these leggings! So much better than any maternity legging I’ve ever owned. But I do wish they were longer like their regular leggings.

Starting at $11.68 at Walmart

There are different options when it comes to Time & Tru leggings (ex. maternity, non-maternity, fleece-lined, ribbed, or jeggings) . . . Yes, they now offer maternity sizes.

You can opt for the maternity pair or a non-maternity pair . . . It really depends on you. Keep in mind that most moms that have bought these plus size leggings choose the non-maternity pair because they fit so well and allows them to continue to wear them even after the baby arrives.

These are also very popular with moms however they were not technically “maternity” leggings. They are so comfortable and affordable that plus-size pregnant moms choose their pre-pregnancy size or just size up. Also, keep in mind that some options/colors can either only be purchased in-store or online.

  • Top rated by moms
  • Sizes from M to 3XL (3XL may only be available in-store – not online)
  • High-waisted
  • Offered in full length & capri

  • Stretchy. Supportive. Comfortable.
  • Somewhat helpful for rounding out your b-belly and/or apron belly

Not sure how recommended these but they're da best!! They're awesome! Thick and under $6.

Starting at $12 on Amazon

  • Crop length.
  • To be worn during pregnancy and after baby arrives.

Best maternity leggings ever! They are amazing and are a wonderful quality. They don’t stretch out and become see through. Offers great support for your growing belly too. I referred them to my sister in law and she loves them as well.

7. Plus Size Postpartum Support Belly Band

Starting at $34.99 on Amazon

  • Sizes from XL-4XL.
  • Adjustable. Breathable.
  • Medical-grade fastner.
  • Great for abdominal muscle support and pain relief. Helps with back pain.

I bought this so I could bind my belly after my c-section. Holy cow I loved it better than the one they gave me in the hospital. It's really good quality and it does not roll either- I was nervous since it is velcro. I highly recommend if you are plus size and recovering from a c-section. This worked GREAT. I wish I would have know about this with my first baby!

Starting at $34.99 on Amazon

  • Sizes from 2XL-4XL.
  • Provides comfort & support.
  • Adjustable. Strong fastener.
  • Great for abdominal muscle support and pain relief. Helps with back pain.

I purchased a 4x thinking it’s probably smaller in size item. But to my surprise, it is actually too big. I wear a 22/24. I decided to keep it since I opened it. Didn’t inquire it can be returned.

Starting at $17.99 on Amazon

  • 2 sizes available: one size fit all -OR- plus size
  • Comfortable. Adjustable. Breathable.
  • Great for abdominal muscle support and pain relief.

This belt really helped after I gave birth a few weeks ago. Definitely try it it’ll help your stomach go down significantly.
