Best Plus Size Nursing Bras

Best Plus Size Nursing Bras & Tanks in 2023

As an expecting mama, finding the best plus size nursing bra and/or plus size tank is a must however it’s not always an easy task!

Some brands don’t always offer larger sizes and/or good quality options for us so I’ve searched high and low to find the best plus size maternity nursing bras and tanks so that you don’t have to.

Because I had to find good options for myself,  I found that even though there are quite a few options it really boils down to your preferences, size, and budget. Because of this, I highly recommend reading the reviews for the ones that interest you. . . Sometimes it can be hit or miss because it really depends on each mom.

So you’re probably wondering . . . Which nursing bra is best, right?

Well, there are several things to consider when looking for the perfect plus size nursing bra or plus size nursing tank:

  • Should I buy a bigger size nursing bra? There’s no way to know how much your boobies are gonna change throughout your maternity and nursing journey.  Every mom is different . . . Some may only go up 1 cup size others may go up 2-3 cup sizes. You don’t want to purchase a nursing bra that is too big because it won’t provide support & you don’t want a maternity bra that’s to tight beacuse it will most likely cause clogged ducts.
  • Be sure to take your measurements so that you know exactly what size you’ll need. Most of us know what size we normally are (when not pregnant or nursing) however that usually changes throughout your pregnancy and breastfeeding journey.

Side Note: Most of us choose to purchase our nursing bra prior to baby arriving however it’s really up to you. Most of the plus size nursing bras are soft and stretchy so depending on how much your breast grows and the bra, it’s usually no big deal. Also, remember your breast will change sizes throughout each day as well (depending on how full your breast is with milk).

  • Do you have a preference regarding the fabric? The fabric options are usually gonna be cotton, soft microfiber, or a seamless soft Nylon/Spandex material.
  • Do you have a preference for a plus size maternity bra or tank that actually have cups (that are separated) or all-in-one (more similar to a sports bra)?
  • When nursing, a wireless nursing bra is usually preferred. Maternity bras that have an underwire could cause you to have clogged ducts and be very uncomfortable. For the moms that just can’t do without an underwire nursing bra, I’ve listed a popular option below.
  • Sometimes you may run across a plus size nursing bra that you really like however it may not be offered in the length that you need. If that happens, remember you can buy a bra strap extender here.

I have another pump and nurse bra that is almost TWICE as expensive as this one, and this bra makes my boobs look way nicer! It's great to have an option like that that I can still easily pump in! Also, the straps on this bra are great - the front part is a little wider and almost padded feeling, which is super comfy. However, after wearing this bRead more about review stating Makes your boobs look great!ra all day, sometimes the pump holes inside rub uncomfortably. So it's better for short time use I think, like if you have an event or important meeting where you want to feel a little more dressed up or confident ... and still have to pump - then this bra really shines!

I ordered a 2XL and it fits bigger than a lot of other 2XL things I've purchased. It stretches well and is very comfortable. I wear them daily and sleep in them as well. While pumping, it does tend to push my pumps to the side a bit and I have to readjust the fit of my flanges on my breasts but it fits better than other nursing bras I've tried.

  • Sizes from 32A to 42G
  • Comes in black & beige.
  • Comfortable.
  • Leakproof pads.
  • Premium clasps.
  • Adaptive fabric.

I can't even describe how nice it is to not have to switch out nursing pads every few hours, especially when you're trying to keep up with a million other things with a new baby. I don't have a lot of leakage, so I'm actually fine to use the bra and just wash a few times a week. It never smells funny like nursing pads, and turned out to be quite comfortable. I will say that it took about a week of breaking it in for it to really feel comfortable, so be patient during the first few days if it feels a little awkward. I ordered this before an international trip, and was really needing it before my flight and Knix went above and beyond to make sure that it arrived on time. I really appreciated having the added comfort and convenience during travel abroad, and will definitely recommend to any new mama!

I honestly never write reviews but this product is so great I wanted to be sure to let others know. First, the material is so soft and comfortable. Second, the cups are slightly lined so that you don't feel like your nipples on display! Third, the racer-back provides lots of support. I bought one and then went back and bought 4 more. I absolutely love this bra and honestly will likely continue wearing it even after I have completed breastfeeding my son. Thank you for making such a wonderful product.

This is probably my favorite plus size nursing tank options if you don’t want to invest in nursing bras! It’s a tank that basically attaches to ANY bra strap that you already own. This is an amazing feature that gives you flexibility and more options.

  • Sizes from XS-5XL
  • Comes in 10 different colors.
  • Soft cotton fabric.
  • Comfortable. Stretchy but snug.
  • This tank allows you attach this to any one of the bras that you currently own with 2 different attachment options.

5'4 245lbs normally wear a 2x, got these in a 2x. Feels very comfortable, amazing stretch, could probably get away with wearing this outside with a cardigan. Does NOT have the support like a bra would, but enough for me. I wear a 42f in Lane Bryant Bras and this kept my girls up. Currently 24 wks pregnant.

Starting at $46.95 at Lane Bryant

  • Sizes from 8/10 to 26/28
  • Comes in black.
  • Wire-free. Seamless.
  • Comfortable. Super soft. Stretchy.

I'm honestly so impressed, I was not planning to love this nursing cami as much as I do. I'm pregnant and not nursing yet, I ordered a size up just in case, and it's so soft and smooth and comfortable. The cups are super nice and round and sewed in so they dont move! I havent washed it or anything yet, but it's so comfortable. I'm about 210lbs 5'6, and ordered a 18/20. I'm about a 38dd usually, slightly higher now cause of being pregnant and this tank is an absolute perfect fit. It's so stretchy. But comfy stretchy.

Side Note: Did you know that Nordstroms will convert a bra that you currently own into a nursing bra (for a $10 fee)? This is popular with moms looking to wear their bras that they can’t live without and still allows them to breastfeed their little ones. Make sure you call to verify which locations still offer this service.

The Takeaway

Finding which plus size nursing bra is right for you will really depend on you, your preference, and budget.

I would definitely consider investing more in a really quality maternity bra upfront so that that you don’t end up paying just as much (if not more) in the long run.
